Wilma Dube Brideau

d. February 25, 2016

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Wilma at 10am on May 17 in St. Cecilia’s Church in Leominster, the church from which Wilma was married in 1938.  The private burial of her ashes beside her late husband will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Fitchburg.  Arrangements are being handled by the Brandon Funeral Home in Fitchburg.

Wilma Brideau Dube, formerly of Leominster and Fitchburg, passed away on February 25 at The Elms of Cranbury (Cranbury, NJ) just a few months before her 100th birthday.  Wilma was the daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Melancon) Brideau.  At the time of her death, Wilma was a longtime resident of Carneys Point, NJ.

In addition to her parents, Wilma was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Robert F. Dube, Sr., by her sister Stella LeBlanc, and by her brothers and their spouses: Raymond (Bernice), Francis (Rena), Alfred (Yvonne and Jean), and Leo Brideau. She was also predeceased by her husband’s parents Jean Baptiste and Marie Louise Dube, by her siblings-in-law, Violet (Raymond) Roy, Louis (Gertrude) Dube, and Rita (Phillip) Leger, and by her daughter-in-law Bonnie Dube and her son-in-law Gregory Lang.

Wilma is survived by her sons Robert F. Jr. (Frances Malara) of Fords, NJ and Michael John of Carneys Point, NJ, and by her daughters Mary Jane Boyle of Spotswood, NJ, Dale R. Dube, Esquire, of Carneys Point, NJ, and Lois Dube Lang of Tarpon Springs, FL.  She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-granddaughters, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Wilma attended St. Cecilia’s School.  As a young adult, she worked as a nanny for the family of Joseph Foster, and at the DuPont, Hathaway, and Whitney Carriage companies.  She also did office and bookkeeping work for Brideau and Sons Contractors, the construction company founded by her father.  Following marriage and motherhood, Wilma focused on becoming a homemaker extraordinaire, and followed her husband’s career by relocating to Medford, MA and to New Brunswick, Sayreville and Carneys Point in NJ.

Wilma will be lovingly remembered by her family as a true force of nature, devoted to making a positive difference in the lives of her family and friends.  Wilma’s wisdom, compassion, patience and good humor were most evident when she was meeting the special needs of her son Michael.  Although she has more than earned her eternal rest, Wilma will be missed by her children until they draw their last breath.
