Willie’s funeral will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 in Crossroads Community Church in Fitchburg at a time to be announced. Burial will follow in the MA Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon. Calling hours will be held in Brandon Funeral Home from 5-8 pm on Thursday, August 31.
Willie “Bill” L. Oliver, of Fitchburg, passed away on August 23, 2107 at UMASS hospital after an illness.
Bill was born in Arkansas on July 15, 1940, the son of the late Fred and Rosie (Relerford) Oliver.
He worked over 18 years at the Fitchburg Foundry and at its closing, continued his career at the former James River Plant He retired from the former General Electric Plant as a machinist in 1998. He was active in the Church at Crossroads Community (former Fitchburg Assembly of God), visiting the Nursing homes ministering to the people. For many years he assisted Pastor Neuhaus running the camera and singing at Burbank Chapel. He also enjoyed watching all sports and playing dominos.
He leaves his wife of over 52 years Rosie (Snowden) Oliver: Siblings Palmer C. and Ojetta Oliver, Shirley G. Daniels, Linda Middleton and Learnie Oliver of Arkansas and Annie Crump of Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers Sammie L. Relerford and Smith Oliver, and sister Eula Frazier.
