William J. Delaney

A funeral mass will be held from the Brandon Funeral Home, 17 Main St., Ashburnham on Thursday, August 18 at 11:00 at St. Denis Church, 85 Main St., Ashburnham. Burial with military honors will be held in the MA Veterans Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon. A calling hour will be held from 9:30- 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Veterans Homestead, 69 High St., Fitchburg, MA 01420.



Ashburnham – William J. Delaney, 82, died Sunday, August 14, 2016 after an illness.

 

Mr. Delaney was born on May 24, 1934 a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Murphy) Delaney and had previously resided in Plymouth for 35 years before moving to Ashburnham.

 

William is predeceased by his first wife Beverly (Stanlaske) Delaney with whom they had four children, William J. Delaney Jr. and his wife Molly of Munroe, CT, Dorene A. Francis and her husband Joseph of Ashburnham with whom he resided, Patricia M. Snyder and her husband Robert of Millersburg, PA, Kathleen McGinnis and her husband Richard of Hoosick Falls, NY, twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. William was fortunate to find love again and married Gloria (Bulkowski) Delaney who had three children. Gloria died in 2016 .

William is predeceased by a sister, JoAnne Benson.

 

Mr. Delaney worked as a purchaser for various companies including the Hazetine Corporation. He took great pride working as an usher for the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park for thirty five years.

 

He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed golfing.  He was loved by all of his family and his loss will be felt by all those who knew him.
