Wilfred “Wolf” Provencal, a beloved family man and charismatic figure of his community, passed away on September 23, 2023, at the age of 87. Born on June 8, 1936, in Fitchburg, MA, Wolf lived most of his life in the nearby town of Westminster, MA. Known for his generous spirit and humble nature, Wolf was a man who could light up any room with his infectious humor. He had a successful career as a papermaker in a local paper mill, but his proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly his loving family.
Wolf was a man with a big heart, always ready to share a laugh or lend a helping hand. His favorite place was his beloved Wyman Pond, where he spent countless hours captaining his boat or waving at friends from his deck as they rode by on theirs. As Mark Twain once said, “Humor is mankind’s greatest blessing,” and Wolf embodied this truth, infusing joy into the lives of all who knew him. His love for his family and his lake was evident in the compassionate and lively way he lived his life.
Wolf is survived by his devoted wife, Annette Provencal, of 49 years. He is also survived by his loving children; Donna (John) Maloughney, Bruce (Joyce) Provencal, James (Marissa) Provencal, and his cherished grandchildren; Shaun, Nicole (Joseph), Sally, Jaclyn (Everett), Timothy (Kacey), Nicholas, Delaney, and Austin. His love extended to his great-grandchildren; Emilie, Alexis, Quinn, Ares, Ariel, Avery, Emerson, Mason, and Benjamin Wolf, and his great-great grandchildren Owen, Denver, and Bella. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bernadette Provencal, and his siblings, Pauline Dick and Gerald Provencal.
Wolf’s passing leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will continue to inspire and guide his family and friends. As we remember Wolf, let us celebrate his generous spirit, charismatic presence, and the love he had for his family and his lake.
We invite you to celebrate Wolf’s life by sharing your favorite memories and photos of Wolf on his memorial page.
