Funeral services and burial in Westminster will be held privately. Brandon Funeral Home, 17 Main Street Ashburnham, is directing arrangements.
OBITUARY
Westminster – Wesley G. Battles, 85, of Westminster, died Thursday, March 31, in Leominster Hospital.
Wesley was born in Gardner on December 30, 1930, a son of the late Herbert and Elizabeth (McNayr) Battles. Before moving to Westminster, he lived in Ashburnham for 44 years. He was a graduate of Fitchburg High School, and proudly served his country in the US Navy. For over 35 years, Wesley worked in the Industrial Arts program at Gardner High School, where he specialized in the metal shop. He was a member of the pro rodeo where he traveled to Oklahoma with the cowboys association.
Wesley was a professional hunter, especially of black bears. He traveled all over, including Vermont and Washington as a hunter’s guide. He also was employed as a game warden. For over 55 years, Wesley and his beloved wife Norma would have coffee every morning at the Dunkin’ Donuts in Westminster.
He leaves his loving wife of 57 years, Norma (Dragotti) Battles; nieces and nephews, William and James Perrett, Cindy Turner, Mark Foley, Marcy Campbell, and Bonnie Simahk; sisters, Jean Hoag of FL and Janet Perrett of Ashburnham; friends, Susan Chaplin Foley, Cindy Dumais and Kathy Boisvert.
Wesley was predeceased by his sister Jacqueline Koroski.
