FITCHBURG – It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Warren C Garretson 79 of Fitchburg on Saturday, February 4, 2023 in the Health Alliance Hospital Leominster Campus.
He was born August 14, 1943 in Stephenson, West Virginia the son of Kermit Garretson and Nellie M. (Miller) Garretson.
He grew up in West Virginia and graduated from Herndon High School in 1962 and attended West Virginia Tech. He moved to Fitchburg in 1965.
Warren worked at Bates Corrugated Box in Townsend, then went on to work at Pferd Industries as a machinist and more recently as a bus driver for Dee bus services serving Montachusett Technical Regional High School. He was a member of the Leominster Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Eastwood Club. He was a kind and gentle man. He loved his savior Jesus Christ, spending time with his family, salvaging scrap metal and reading his morning paper.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Dawn E. (Rines) Garretson; three daughters, Darlene M. Garretson of Athol, Elizabeth A. Augustine and her husband Scott of Gardner, Heather J. LeShane and her husband Ron of Princeton; two sons, Charles J. Garretson and his wife Brenda of Townsend, Donald P. Garretson and his wife Heidi of Fitchburg; two brothers, Richard Garretson of West Virginia, Berlin Garretson of West Virginia; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Alicia (Cosentino) Garretson who passed in 1989 and by one brother, Clyde Garretson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 11 AM in the Brandon Funeral Home 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg. Burial will follow at St Bernard’s Cemetery, Fitchburg.
A calling hour will be held Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 10–11 a.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leominster Seventh Day Adventist Church, 445 Union St, Leominster MA 01453.
