Thomas Wayne Clarke Sr. beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 25th, at the age of 76.
Tom was born to John Clarke and Louise LeBlanc in Fitchburg, MA on December 17th, 1947. He spent the majority of his life as a Fitchburg native, and faithfully served his country in the US Navy as a Submariner during the Vietnam War. Tom had a career as a papermaker within the Fitchburg paper mills prior to his retirement.
Tom leaves behind his loving wife, Gail, of 44 years, their two children, Megan Clarke (Matt Robuccio), and John Clarke (Renée Marshall). His four children Tracy Clarke, Kellie Clarke, Thomas Clarke Jr., and Jeremy Clarke (Nicole Ellis), and his three step-daughters, Lori Thompson (Mark Thompson), Kelly Potter, Cristy Guy (Victor Guy), thirty Grandchildren, and thirteen Great Grandchildren. He also leaves behind one sister, Liella "Punky" Tarr (George Tarr), and many nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his parents, his brother Edward "T-Boy" Hammond (Nancy Hammond), and his sister Leona "Lee" Tomer.
Tom was a kind and modest person who spent his time loving his large family, enjoying music (especially The Beatles), playing guitar, gardening, and rooting for the Boston Bruins during hockey season.
Tom will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Tom for a period of visitation on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Brandon Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at a later date.Arrangements are under the care of Brandon Funeral Home.
