On January 8, 2025, we bid farewell to a courageous woman of remarkable strength and integrity, Susan Marie Roetzer (née Forrest). Born on October 15, 1948, in Melrose, MA, Susan's life journey was a testament to her creative spirit, supportive nature, and loving heart. Her nurturing demeanor touched every life she encountered, while her creativity shone brilliantly through her passions for art, cooking, and traveling. Her love for reading was an open secret, often seen with a good book in one hand and a glass of wine in the other, a smile on her face, and a twinkle in her eyes.
Susan was a remarkable woman, a beacon of love and resilience. She was an accomplished attorney, having earned her BA from Fitchburg State College and her JD from Suffolk University Law School. Her career was marked by her relentless dedication and commitment. In her retirement, she remained an active and integral part of her community. Susan served as a Trustee for Applewild School from 1986 to 2012 and was a Trustee for the Fitchburg Art Museum since 2004, serving as President of the Board from 2017 to 2021. She was a firm believer in philanthropy and community development and poured her heart into causes she deeply cared about.
To her family and loved ones, Susan was a rock, a source of endless love and support. She was a devoted wife to Ronald Roetzer, a loving mother to son, Tyler (Jocelynn) Roetzer and daughter, Jessica Roetzer, and a doting grandmother to grandson, Braiden Roetzer. She also leaves behind her mother, Mary Forrest, her brother, John (Elaine) Forrest Jr. and family, and her brother, Gary Forrest. She is preceded in death by her father, John Forrest Sr.
