OBITUARY
Susan M. Leppala of Lunenburg
Lunenburg – Susan M. (Tiernan) Leppala, 67, of Lunenburg, passed away on May 28, 2018.
Susan was born in Fitchburg on November 5, 1950, daughter of Helen Branch and the late James Tiernan. She was a graduate of Saint Bernard’s High School and later earned her Associate’s Degree from Mt. Wachusett College.
Susan began a career spanning over 47 years with the Fitchburg District Court as a Judicial Secretary and was currently the Assistant Clerk Magistrate at the Fitchburg Juvenile Court.
She was an avid walker and could always be seen walking during her lunchbreaks with her friend and co-worker, Sheila for the last 40 years. Susan would also walk in the mornings and evenings with her neighbors, and always looked forward to walking her son’s dog, Master.
Susan loved her family first and foremost above all. She also loved animals, especially cats. She would care for, feed, and provide shelter and foster homes for stray cats. Once nurtured by Susan, she would often bring them to shelters, especially Ahimsa Haven, to be spayed or neutered and placed for adoption.
Susan’s passion in life was giving. She had a tremendous heart and was generous and selfness by nature. She was a regular customer of and donator to the Salvation Army, or as she would fondly refer to it, “Sally’s”. She loved visiting yard sales and preferred not to be a consumer at retail stores when it came to gift giving.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Thomas Leppala of Lunenburg; her son, Eric Leppala and fiancé Tracey Yarnell of Fitchburg; her mother, Helen Branch of Bedford, NH; brothers, Michael Roddy and his son Ryan of FL, and Patrick Roddy of NH; sister in law Karen Kemp of Lunenburg, and many close friends.
Susan was predeceased by her father James Tiernan.
