MURFREESBORO, TN – Stephen Bryant Thorne died peacefully, December 25, 2016 at his home in Murfreesboro, TN , where he had resided for 20 years.
He was born December 1, 1958 and grew up Lunenburg. Stephen was a 1977 graduate of Lunenburg High School. He graduated from the Worcester Police Academy in 1988.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Donna (Glebaucis) Thorne of Murfreesboro, TN, three children, Joshua Thorne and his wife Kimberly of Tulsa, OK, Jennifer Thorne of Auburn, AL and Tracy Thorne of NY, NY, his parents, Carlton and Ellen (Stephens) Thorne of Lunenburg, MA and a sister Susan Thorne Gagnon and husband Robert of North Chelmsford, MA, grandchildren, Keghan Findley, Nora and Caleb Thorne. He was predeceased by his beloved Pekinese and “co-pilot”, Molly.
Stephen was currently working as commercial truck driver for Howard Baer Trucking Co. Prior to that, he was police officer on the Murfreesboro police department for 10 years, where he was awarded Medal for Heroism from National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution in 1996.
Before moving to Tennesse in 1996, he served proudly as a police officer in Templeton and Gardner.
He was a longtime member of American Federations of Musicians, Local 173, Fitchburg and Fitchburg Military Band.
He was an avid fan of Boston Red Sox and New England sports, played trumpet and various other instruments and was an animal lover. He also loved fishing and enjoyed Facebook social networking, keeping in touch with hometown friends and classmates. He was also a competitive weight lifter and body builder.
