Stanley P. Howe, Jr.

July 31, 1933 — April 1, 2022

Calling hours will be held in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Thursday, April 7 from 5-7pm. The funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 8 at 11:00am in Saint Anthony of Padua Church. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery in Fitchburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Anthony of Padua Church, 84 Salem Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420.



Stanley Philip Howe Jr., 88, died unexpectedly on April 1st.

Stanley was born in Fitchburg on July 31st, 1933, a son of the late Stanley and Mary (Vergari) Howe, Sr.  He graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1951 and went on to serve his country on several US naval vessels during the Korean conflict.  He had a lengthy career in the local paper industry working for Fitchburg Paper, James River and Munksjo Paper.

He leaves his wife of 63 years, Nancy (Leger) Howe of Fitchburg; children, Stanley Howe III and wife Sandy of Fitchburg, Douglas and wife Renee of Fitchburg, Sheila Montminy and husband Steve of Groton, Randy of Fitchburg and Rosemary Reirden and husband David of Leominster.  Grandchildren Bradley Howe, Amy Howe, Christopher Howe, Kimberly Weidknecht(husband Bryan), Ryan Howe, Taylor Howe, Troy Howe, Cameron Reirden and Carson Reirden.   Two great- granddaughters, Elaina and Norah Weidknecht.

He also leaves his siblings Domenic Howe and wife Ann, and Virginia Gaudet, brother-in-laws James Julius and Robert Leger, sister-in-laws Margaret Howe and Annette Bergeron Leger.  He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Stanley was predeceased by his brother Ralph and sister Olga Julius.

Stan had a passion for growing flowers, having a vegetable garden and taking meticulous care of his lawn.  He was always proud of showing off the backyard during the summer months.
