Sr. Angelina Panetti of the Venerini Sisters was called to her heavenly home on Monday, May 30th, at Alliance Hospital in Leominster. Born in Pittsfield, MA, of the late Ignazio and Maria Cencia Panetti. Sr. Angelina entered the Venerini Congregation in 1940 and was professed in 1945.
She earned her B.S. in Elementary Education at Catholic Teachers College in Providence, RI. Though teaching in various schools in the Albany and Providence Diocese, the greatest number of years was in the Worcester Diocese at St. Anthony’s in Fitchburg and St. Anna’s in Leominster. Sr. Angelina established St. Anthony’s School and taught in various grades as the school grew. She was its principal for many years and served as Administrative assistant in her final years there.
Sr. Angelina loved the children and was loved by them. She also taught Religious Education classes in the various parishes where she was. Her gentle, kindly and soft-spoken manner made her lovable to all. She moved to Presentation Healthcare Center in Leominster as her health declined. There she enjoyed the loving care and community of the Sisters and staff until God called her unexpectedly.
Besides her Religious Sisters in the Venerini Congregation, Sr. Angelina is survived by her sister, Frances Lucaroni, nieces, nephews and grandnephews. She is predeceased by nine siblings—Angelo Panetti, Alex Panetti, Theresa Garzone, Eva Carroll, Prudence DiGrigoli, Nicky Serra, Carmen Panetti, Viola Rotti and Jenny Gilardi.
