OBITUARY Townsend – Shirley F. (Rust) Morton, 89, of Townsend, passed away peacefully in the Fitchburg Gardens Nursing Home. Shirley was born in Fitchburg on January 31, 1928, a daughter of the late Theodore and Mary (Thomas) Rust. She lived in Shirley for many years before moving to Townsend in 1964. For many years, Shirley worked at Cliff’s Café until her retirement. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother; she had such a nurturing spirit and was a foster mom to four children. Shirley was an avid Bingo player and was also a talented seamstress. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves her two daughters, Mary Kerwood and spouse Linda of Townsend, Sheryl Kilbourn and spouse Charles of Townsend; grandchildren, Tara Colardeau, Sarah DiBenedetto, Lisa Rauhala, Kelsey Kilbourn, Erik Rauhala; great grandchildren, David Rauhala, Connor Crowley, Parker Williams, Ethan Nason, Hunter Nason and Kaysen Rauhala; many nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Leslie Morton, on February 11, 2017; her siblings, Theodore Rust, Jr., Armand Rust, Donald Rust, Gladys Gionet, Nancy Erickson, and Rita Peaslee. She was also predeceased by her great granddaughter Emery Nason.
