The funeral will be held in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Friday, September 16, at 11:00am. A calling hour will be held from 10-11am Friday morning. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery in Fitchburg.
OBITUARY
Fitchburg – Sarah M. (Niles) Austin, 95, of Fitchburg, passed away peacefully in the Golden Living Center on September 11, 2016.
Sarah was born in Fitchburg on December 20, 1920, a daughter of the late David and Olive (Doiron) Niles.
Sarah was a longtime parishioner of Saint Joseph Church in Fitchburg. Sarah loved to sing and was very active in the Music Ministry at St. Joseph’s Church during the 1970’s. Along with her husband, Sarah always looked forward to the PTA dances.
She loved spending time gardening and caring for her flowers. Sarah also enjoyed knitting and crocheting; especially for her children and grandchildren.
She leaves her three daughters, Marilyn Hothem and her husband Daniel of Ohio, Catherine Stickney and her husband Samuel of Maine, and Jennifer Austin of Leominster; six grandchildren, Jonathan, Melissa, Seth, Arthur, Corey, and Isaac; eight great grandchildren; brothers, Ernest Niles and Frederick Niles, both of Fitchburg, and a sister Dorothy Dunn of Clinton. She also leaves her “granddogs” Teddy and Snicker.
Sarah was predeceased by her husband of 67 years Elbert A. (Okie) Austin in 2013.
The family would like to thank the loving staff at Golden Living Center for their compassionate care over the past several years.
