Calling hours will be held Friday, September 11, 2015 from 3pm to 6pm at Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, MA. A prayer service will immediately follow at the funeral home.

Rodney “Rod” V. Christian of Naples, FL passed away suddenly on September 4, 2015.

Rod was born in Fitchburg, MA the son of the late Vernard E. and Phyllis R. Christian. He graduated from Leominster High School and served in the US Air Force Reserves. Rod owned & operated Christian’s Tobacco and Luncheonette with his father.  For many years he was employed by Heywood Hospital in Gardner, MA as the Director of Food Services.

Rod was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He was an avid cyclist, loved to cook and entertain, spend time with family and friends, and was comically referred to as the patriarch of the Christian Family Blue Tooth Club.  He was affectionately called “Papa” by his grandchildren.

He leaves his daughters; Lynn Maillet and her husband Claude, Laura Maldonado and her husband Fernando all of Leominster, and Michelle Christian Leary and her husband Anthony of Needham, MA; seven grandchildren, Cameron and Mallory Maillet, Alexandra Maldonado, Griffin and Nolan Leary, and Jessica and Jordan Bartell; his brother Dr. Fredric V. Christian of Rehoboth, MA; his sister Pamela M. Doiron and her husband Ken of Bangor, ME; nephews, Matthew Christian and his wife Kathleen, Marc Christian and his fiancé Melissa Kern, Christian Doiron, and a niece, Cara Doiron.  Rod also leaves his close companion Elizabeth (Liz) Box of Derry, NH.

He was predeceased by his first wife Charlotte R. Christian in 1983 and his second wife Elaine B. Christian in 2012.
