Robert J. Jones, age 70, and a resident of Leominster, MA, passed away at home on April 30, 2023.
Robert was born on April 17, 1953, to the late William F. Jones Jr. and Alice (O’Brien) Jones in Lynn, MA. He attended Merrimack College and earned his BA in history. He then went on to graduate from Boston College in 1981 with a Masters in education. Bob had many jobs over the years. He worked at Catholic Memorial High School from 1976 to 1986 then went on to work at Applewild School from 1986 to 2019. During this time he was a CCD director at various parishes in Southborough, Ayer, and Fitchburg.
Bob was an avid stamp and baseball card collector over the years. He enjoyed reading books, learning about history and traveling to many historical sites. One of his most favorite things to do was to have video chats with his grandchildren and granddogs.
Bob is predeceased by his parents William F. Jones Jr. and Alice (O’Brien) Jones. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Cynthia (Beede) Jones, his children Nathan P. Jones and his wife Kesli (McNally) Jones of Enfield, CT, Lisa M. Jones of Athol and Amy B. Sabbio and her husband Shaun Sabbio of Townsend. His brothers Major William F. Jones III USAF, Ret. and his wife Linda (Hoyt) Jones of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Thomas A. Jones and his wife Janice (Pinelli) Jones of Methuen. His grandchildren Conor O. Jones and Kelli J. Jones of Enfield, CT, Buddy G. Sabbio, Oliver G. Sabbio and expecting grandson Sabbio in October. He will also be leaving behind 19 nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Leo’s Parish, 108 Main St. Leominster, MA 01453. Burial will take place at St. Leo’s Cemetery 360 Lancaster St, Leominster, MA 01453 following mass.
