A military burial will take place Friday, September 11th 10:00 am at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon, MA 01475. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New England Amputee Association, 185 Sterling Rd., Lancaster, MA 01523 Brandon Funeral home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Robert Henry Guichard, 82, died Saturday, August 29, 2015 in Health Alliance Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife Jean (LeBlanc) of 35 years, daughter Catherine Panagiotes, two brothers, Roland, Edward and one sister Lorraine Guichard. He was born on August 4, 1933, son of Albert and Annie (McKerron) Guichard.
He worked for Charlton Furniture Co. In 1951, he joined the Army stationed in Germany as a crane and shovel operator. Afterwards, Mr.Guichard was employed as a truck driver. He received his GED and a Certificate in Computers from MWCC in Gardner. He retired from the New England Teamsters and the trucking industry in 1993.
He was honored to have served our country and wore the American flag proudly. He enjoyed his tomato gardens, flea markets, the Big E fair, camping at Salisbury beach and playing cribbage. He loved Christmas; decorating, making bread and apple and blueberry pies. He was a member of the friends of the Fitchburg senior center, The American Legion and a lifelong member of the Eastwood Club.
He leaves his daughter Christine “Tina” Daynard and her husband Rick of Haverill; his Son Robert Guichard Jr of Fitchburg; three sisters Delores Pearson of Gardner, Katherine Beaulieu of Shelburne Falls, MaryAnn Guichard of Fitchburg, one brother Albert Guichard of South Carolina, 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
