FITCHBURG – Robert A. Upton, 88, passed away May 23, 2015 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, Worcester after a short illness. He was born February 7, 1927, the son of George and Viola (Misner) Upton. He was a 1945 graduate of Fitchburg High School and was a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corp serving in WWII. He lived in Lunenburg for over 36 years before moving to Fitchburg. He was employed in the production department at Simonds Saw and Steel for many years until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of Rollstone Congregational Church, the Sterling Grange, the Odd Fellows of Leominster, the Rebekah Lodge and the Lunenburg Eagle House Seniors. He loved to garden and was a fan of all Boston sports especially the Red Sox. He leaves his nephew, Dennis Upton and his wife, Sharon, of Gibsonia, PA. He was predeceased by his brother, George Upton and his sister-in-law, Nicolena Upton. At his request, funeral services are private.
