A funeral Mass will be held from the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg with a mass at 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 24 at St. Anthony’s Church, 84 Salem St., Fitchburg. Burial will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Fitchburg. Calling hours are from 5-8 Tuesday, May 23 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or of one’s choice.
Fitchburg- Robert A. “Bob” Duval, 85 passed away on Saturday, May 20 at Health Alliance Hospital in Leominster.
Mr. Duval was born on February 13, 1932 in Fitchburg a son of the late Peter J. and Cecile (Richard) Duval and was a lifelong resident of Fitchburg.
He is survived by his wife of sixty two years, Sally (Geremia) Duval of Fitchburg, one son, David A. Duval and his wife Leslie of Leominster, one daughter, Diane D. Avellar and her husband Albert of Orleans, three grandchildren, Alex David Duval, John Robert Avellar and Olivia Anne Avellar.
Mr. Duval was the founder and owner of RADLOCK Co. in Worcester and had been previously employed at Independent Lock Company in Fitchburg.
Mr. Duval served his country in the US ARMY obtaining the rank of sergeant serving in the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954.
Bob was an avid golfer and a member of thirty two years at the Oak Hill Country Club in Fitchburg where he achieved two holes in one in 1988 and 1997.
Mr. Duval was a 1949 graduate of St. Bernard’s High School where he played basketball and baseball. He received his degree in Mechanical degree from Wentworth Institute in Boston.
Mr. Duval was a member of St. Anthony’s Church and a former member of the former Immaculate Conception Church in Fitchburg.
His greatest joy was his children and grandchildren and attending their sporting events.
