A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Leominster, MA at 9:00 am. Father Thomas Bourque, TOR will officiate and Father Michael Higgins, TOR will concelebrate. Burial will follow in St. Cecilia Cemetery. Robert A. Bourque, 84, of Gardner, MA, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2017, at his home. He was born on July 16, 1933, in Fitchburg, MA, son of the late Philias and Madeline (Fagan) Bourque.
Family includes his loving wife of 31 years, Jackie (Marie Jacqueline Legere) Bourque. Bob is predeceased in death by his daughter, Janice (Bourque) Dymek and wife, Jean (Graham) Bourque. He is survived by his son, Father Thomas Bourque, TOR of Herndon, VA; his daughter, Marcia (Bourque) Sparks of Boynton Beach, FL; his son-in-laws, James Dymek of Holden, MA and Daniel Sparks of Boynton Beach, FL; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews.
Bob was a devout Catholic and was employed as a teamster for over 30 years. After retiring he established a small golf repair business, Works of Golf, that allowed him to work with a sport that he loved. He served on the City of Fitchburg License Commission for 40 years. The Bourque family has served the City of Fitchburg for 60 years with their involvement in politics and service to their city by George, Joseph, and Robert.
He was the youngest of the 13 children born to the late Madeline Fagan and Philias Bourque. He is predeceased in death by his brothers and sisters: Albert, Joseph, Leo, George, Frank, Eva Kukla, Raymond, John (Burke, I), Doris Cackett, Mary Kittredge, Alice Landry, and Leo Joseph Bourque.
