Rita M. Bastarache, 76, formerly of Gardner & Fitchburg, MA, died peacefully Wednesday, November 2, 2022, in Durgin Pines, after a long journey with MS.
Born in St. Marie, New Brunswick, on June 7, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Jean and Irene Maillet. Rita worked at TRW Fasteners for over 20 years.
Her family was her everything. She treasured having her grandsons, Jacob and Trever, stay over as often as they could and when the time came, they were blessed to have her live with them in Maine. She loved cooking Sunday dinner for her boys, Paul of Leominster and Bruce of Cape Neddick. She thought of their spouses, Bonnie and Darcy, as if she had daughters of her own. She enjoyed playing Bingo at St. Joe’s and cards with her siblings, cousins and many friends.
Rita was predeceased by her husband, Donat of Fitchburg. She will be missed by her siblings and in-laws in the US and Canada. We are sure that she will join those siblings and in-laws that have passed for a game of Scat.
