With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Richard J Doucette, a dedicated, loving, adventurous and smart man who left us on June 4, 2024. Born on April 11, 1946, in Collette, NB, Canada, Richard was a beacon of love and strength to his family and friends. Richard was a proud and passionate man, who lived his life to the fullest in his 78 years.
Richard was a lifelong resident of Westminster, Massachusetts, with winters spent soaking up the Florida sun in St. Petersburg. He was a successful businessman, owning and operating R.C. Precision Sheet Metal Inc. from 1988 until his retirement in 2003. Beyond his professional life, Richard had a zest for life that was contagious to everyone around him. As an adventurous spirit, he was a pilot, keeping his plane at Fitchburg Airport. His love for the outdoors was evident in his hobbies which included beekeeping, hunting, fishing and most of all, traveling. He also had a knack for throwing memorable gatherings, with his lobster fest BBQ being a highlight for many. Richard served his country in the Vietnam War, Army First Cavalry Division. His ranking was staff sergeant. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star, a testament to his dedication and service.
Richard leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his caring wife, Jelena; his children, Monica (Bill) Siart and Richie Doucette; step-son Stanislav (Tatjana) Gamolova; his brothers, Donald, Robert, and Daniel Doucette; his sisters, Irene Doucette and Alice Bourque; his grandchildren, Thomas and Shawn Siart, and Madison Doucette; his step-daughter, Irina (Eric) Froment; and his step-granddaughters, Veronica and Jessica Froment. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Gerard and Rosalie Doucette; his first wife, Rosella Doucette; and his siblings, Stella Robichaud, Alma Richard, Gerald Doucette, and Eva Cassie.
Visitation will be held at Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, Massachusetts, 01420, on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 10:30am until 12:30pm. The funeral service will follow at the same location promptly at 12:30pm. Burial will take place at Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, Massachusetts, 01475, at 2:00pm.
