Fitchburg – Richard A. Hammerbeck, 84, of Fitchburg, formerly of Leominster, passed away Sunday, May 17, in River Terrace Nursing home and Rehabilitation.

Richard was born in Charlton, MA on October 12, 1930, a son of the late Siegfried and Levina (Lambert) Hammerbeck. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge. For many years, Richard worked in the Worcester area as a custom upholsterer.

He had served as a Deacon in the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Leominster for several years. Richard loved the outdoors, especially his vegetable and flower gardens. He enjoyed competitive target shooting, and was a member of the Leominster Rod and Gun Club, the Fitchburg Sportsman’s Club, and was the past President and life member of the Grafton Fish and Game Club.

Richard leaves his wife of 40 years, Judith (Andreucci) Hammerbeck of Fitchburg; children, Craig Tremblay of Worcester, Daniel Hammerbeck and his wife Wendy of Leominster; grandchildren, Isabella and Logan; brother Edward Hammerbeck of Worcester.

He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister.

The family would like to thank the staff of River Terrace for their outstanding care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street., Watertown, MA 02472.
