Royalston – Richard A. DeMar, 63, of Royalston, formerly of Leominster, passed away July 2, 2018.
Richard was born in Leominster on February 26, 1955, a son of the late Milton J. and Virginia M. (Ellis) DeMar, both of Leominster. He was a graduate of Leominster High School where he played on the football team. He also played in a band with his friends, that continued after high school. For many years Richard worked as a lifeguard in Lunenburg on Whalom Lake. Richard established his family business DeMar Technologies in 1994 and has since been the owner and operator.
Richard’s love of sports and music carried on into his adult life. He enjoyed playing ice hockey and coaching little league. He was an avid Boston Bruins and New England Patriots fan. Richard’s musical talents allowed him to play various instruments; he was a true entertainer. He would often play music with his children, and always made it known how proud he was of all of them. He loved to make everyone around him laugh, and was even beginning a new venture with magic.
His favorite pastimes included attending Mid State Auto car shows, vacationing in Vermont and New Hampshire, playing with his heavy equipment “toys” in the back yard, and spending quality time with his family especially when he hosted his annual Christmas party.
He is survived by his three children, Richard A. DeMar, Jr., and wife Colleen of Ashburnham, Rob DeMar and Erin Cleary of Hubbardston, and Amy DeMar-DuBois and husband David of Ashburnham; grandchildren, Chloe, Natalie, Daniel, and Alyson DeMar; companion, Darlene Corda of Fitchburg, and her daughter Lesley Corda-Majeski and wife Katie of Walpole; former wife, Diane DeMar of Fitchburg.
