Fitchburg – A Funeral Mass for Rene E. Maillet, 87, who passed away on August 24, will be held in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main St., Leominster on Friday, September 18, at 11:00am. Burial will take place in the MA Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 11 Glenallen St., Winchendon at 3:00pm
OBITUARY
Fitchburg – Rene Eugene Maillet, 87, passed away in the presence of his family at The Highlands in Fitchburg on Monday, August 24, 2015.
Rene was born on September 7, 1927, in Fitchburg; the oldest child of the late Eugene and Edna (Robichaud) Maillet. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He looked forward to the yearly trips to Canada to visit family and go lobster fishing. Rene truly enjoyed the frequent Sunday drives that he took with his wife and children.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years until his honorable discharge. Rene worked for Borden Chemical for over 25 years. Upon his retirement, he traveled cross-country multiple times and followed NASCAR racing. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching sports.
He leaves the love of his life and wife of 62 years, Dorina (Mercure); his children, Darlene Duval and her husband Bruce, Kenneth and his wife Neva Kay, Brenda DeCarolis, Allain and his wife Joan, Sherri Quinty and her husband Edward, Gerald and his wife Barbara; grandchildren, Michael, Crystal, Stephanie, Tanya, Amanda, Nicole, Alan, Anthony; step-grandchildren, Destry and Anita; brother, Denis Maillet and his wife Norma; sisters, Dorina “Pam” Boucher and her husband Aldege, Charline Boudreau and her husband Ernest; 15 great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Rene was predeceased by his brother Ronald Maillet; sisters, Winifred Landry and Jacqueline McCooe, and his nephew David Maillet.
The family would like to thank Summit ElderCare, The Highlands Nursing Home, Leominster Hospital, and Clinton Hospital for the wonderful care Rene received.
