Rachael’s funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint Cecilia’s Church in Leominster on Friday, November 11 at 10am. Burial will follow in Saint Cecilia’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg is directing arrangements.
Fitchburg – Rachael G. Mongeau, 62, died peacefully after a long illness at the Highlands Long Term Health Care Center in Fitchburg on Monday, October 31.
Rachael leaves her loving companion, Lionel Gould of Fitchburg, friend Diane Despres, and her beloved dog Zima.
Rachael is also survived by her parents, Robert W. and Georgette J. Champagne of Lunenburg; siblings, Rose Jacobs of Baldwinville, Charles and Mary Champagne of Orange, John Lagasse of Lunenburg, Norman Champagne and Deborah of Lunenburg, Paul and Hollie Champagne of Phillipston, and Joanne and Erkki Olkkola of Ashburnham. She also leaves many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister Nancy Lagasse.
Rachael was born in Southbridge, MA on April 4, 1954. She graduated from Leominster High School I 1972. Rachael worked at Boutwell Owens in Fitchburg, and before that at Currier Westford in Westford, MA. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Rachael was a huge Patriots fan, and loved to go to family gatherings. She will be remembered fondly as a loving woman by all who knew and loved her.
