A graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, January 6 at 11:00 am in Saint Bernard’s Cemetery in Fitchburg. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Arc of Opportunity 564 Main St., Fitchburg, MA 01420.
Fitchburg – Peter J. Lakutis, Jr., 87, of Fitchburg, passed away peacefully in Leominster Hospital on December 30, 2020.
Peter was born in Fitchburg on July 18, 1933, the only son of Peter J. Lakutis, Sr. and Helen (Kozloski) Lakutis. He graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1952, and was drafted into the US Army in 1953. He proudly served his country during the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1955.
Peter spent his career working as a truck driver for the Teamsters Union Local 170 for many years until his retirement. Pete enjoyed home maintenance projects and working in his yard.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, Anthony Cristofono and his wife Janice of Fitchburg, a nephew, James Cristofono and wife Laura of Puyallup, WA and niece Deborah Noonan and her husband Tom of Leominster.
Peter was predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Maryjean (Cristofono) Lakutis in 2019.
