Paul will be missed by family and friends. The funeral will be held from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg, on Wednesday, Sept. 7, with a Mass in Saint Joseph Church, 49 Woodland St., Fitchburg at 11:00am. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home prior to the Mass from 9-10:30am. Paul would have appreciated donations to the Lasallette Missions in lieu of flowers.
Enfield, CT- Paul A. Fredette Jr. passed on to join his Heavenly Father and the pre-deceased members of his earthly family on September 2, 2016. Paul was born on March 8, 1923 the second of eight children born to Paul Sr. & Anna Fredette in Fitchburg, MA. Paul was a lifelong resident of Fitchburg and a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Parish until he moved to Enfield CT in 2009.
Paul served proudly in the US Army’s Corps of Engineers as part of the Black Hawk Division during World War II in both the European and Pacific Theaters before returning home to serve in the Naval Reserves after the war ended. Paul became a building inspector for the State of Massachusetts in 1949 and retired as the States Chief Building Inspector in 1988.
By trade Paul was a carpenter, always ready and willing to help anyone at any time. If he needed a hand or there was a part he did not have his longtime friend, Clem Contour, was by his side and willing to share his inventory of spare parts.
Paul is survived by three children Paul and his wife Charlotte of Elizabeth City, NC, Denise and her husband Michael O’Leary of Enfield CT and George and his wife Kathe of Salem, NH. Paul has 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren that have been the pride and joy of his life. Paul is also survived by his sister Rose and two brothers Joseph and Armand.
Paul was pre-deceased by Louise, his wife of 59 years, his parents and his sisters Florida, a Grey Nun of Charity and Bertha Sequin of Fitchburg. He was also pre-deceased by two brothers Albert, a LaSallette Priest and Edmond of Westfield MA.
