The funeral will be held from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Saturday, April 11, 2015 with a Mass in Saint Bernard’s Parish at Saint Camillus Church, 333 Mechanic Street at 9:00am. Burial will be at a later date in the MA Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 4-7 pm on Friday, April 10 in the funeral home.
OBITUARY
Fitchburg – Patrick “Joe” Keane, 85, of Fitchburg, passed away Monday, April 6, 2015 in Leominster Hospital.
Joe was born in Fitchburg on March 17, 1930, a son of the late Christopher and Delia (Curley) Keane. He graduated from Saint Bernard’s High School in 1948, where he played on the football team. Joe enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Luzon. Joe was the General Manager of the Lancaster Sterling Lumber Company for many years.
He was the Past President of the Irish American Association, and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Sheriffs Association, and the American Legion, Post 10. Joe was a devout member of Saint Bernard’s Parish.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, Nancy (Blanchflower) Keane of Fitchburg; children, Margie West and her husband Matthew of Rhode Island, Brian Keane and his wife Lorna of Boylston, and Timothy Keane and wife Kristen of Medfield; grandchildren, Sarah, Christopher, Sean, Caitlin, Ellen, Mathew, Katherine, Liam, Timothy J., and Emma; great grandchildren, Lily, Wyatt, Cooper, and Miller; siblings, Mae Keane, and James Keane; nieces and nephews.
Joe was predeceased by his son Kevin Keane in 2012, his brothers, Robert and Jack Keane, and his sisters, Margaret Lepore and Ann Dauphin.
