A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, August 25 at the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg. A visitation period will be from 10:00am until the time of the service. Burial will be private.
Fitchburg- Norman J. Cormier Sr., 91, passed away on Wednesday, August 16 at his residence.
Mr. Cormier was born on June 15, 1926 in Fitchburg a son of the late Tilmon and Delina (Berube) Cormier and has lived his entire life in Fitchburg.
Mr. Cormier is survived by his wife, Cecile (Moyen) Cormier who would have celebrated seventy years of marriage this November, three sons, Norman J. Cormier Jr. and his wife Linda of Methuen, David Cormier and his partner Gail of Leominster, Lawrence Cormier and his wife Cathy of Leominster, one daughter, Robin Lessard and her husband Michael of Leominster, one sister, Pauline Holstrom of Leominster, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cormier was predeceased by his son, George Cormier and his daughter June Cormier and two brothers, Leon Cormier and Ernest Cormier.
Mr. Cormier served his country in the US NAVY during WW II.
For many years he was employed by the City of Fitchburg.
Mr. Cormier was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 429 and VFW in Fitchburg. He Scout Master for Pack 22 for several years.
He was a passionate Red Sox and Patriots fan. Mr. Cormier enjoyed trips to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun.
