Nancy Joan Thomas

Nancy J. Thomas, 66, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at UMass Memorial Medical Center after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer for over four and a half years.

Nancy was born in Fitchburg on November 4, 1958, a daughter of the late George and Joan (Niemi) Thomas. She graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1976 and went on to attend Boston University before completing her bachelor’s degree at Fitchburg State in 1980. Nancy worked as a central office technician at Verizon for 30 years before retiring. A lifelong member of Christ Episcopal Church in Fitchburg, she remained dedicated to attending services for as long as she was able.

Nancy leaves behind her daughter, Lauren Sweeney, and her partner Tyrie Osby; her brother, David Thomas, and his wife, Deborah; her niece, Jennifer Thomas, her partner, Chello Gonzalez, and their son, Ethan Gonzalez; her nephew, James Thomas, his wife, Britta, and their daughter, Alessia; 2 granddaughters, Nyla and Amelia Osby; her partner, Dean Larkin, with whom she lived, and her beloved dog, Vinny. Nancy also leaves behind many dear friends from childhood, work, and church.

A service for Nancy will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, located at 569 Main St., Fitchburg MA 01420.

Prior to the service, there will be an informal calling hour at 10:00 a.m. in the Bennett room of the church.
