Her funeral will be held In Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Fitchburg on Wednesday, March 21, at 11:00AM. Calling hours will precede the service in the Church from 9:30-11:00AM. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made in Nancy’s name to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1319 Main St., Fitchburg, MA 01420.



OBITUARY Fitchburg – Nancy A. (Lastella) Bourekas, 89, of Fitchburg, passed away peacefully at the Leominster Crossing on March 16, 2018. Nancy was born in Lacedonia, Italy, on March 22, 1928, a daughter of the late Rocco and Rosina (Bottazzi) Lastella. She received her Elementary education while living in Italy, and at the age of 12, emigrated to the United States with her family in 1940, settling in Leominster, MA. She completed High School here and later attended Steven’s Business College in Fitchburg. Prior to marriage, Nancy had worked for the former Scott’s Jewelry Store on Main Street in Fitchburg as the Assistant Credit Manager, she also worked for UCF (United Cooperative Farmers) on River Street as the Switch Board Operator. During her and her husband Spike’s retirement years, they spent winters in Florida for over 30 years. Throughout their 54 year marriage, they traveled extensively and enjoyed every moment together. Nancy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a skilled cook and enjoyed crafts, including knitting, crocheting, and crewel.  She was a woman of great faith and a longtime member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Fitchburg, as well as a member of its former Ladies Hope Society. Nancy leaves her beloved husband Spiros “Spike” Bourekas of Fitchburg, a son, Gregory Bourekas of Ashburnham, and two grandsons, Matthew and Alexander Bourekas of Ashburnham. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews, as well as her dear friend, Helen Boucher of Fitchburg. She was predeceased by her six siblings, Michael, Joseph, Carmine, and Anthony, and Nicolina Lastella and Rachel Pandiscio.
