Micheline E. DeConinck, age 75 of Fitchburg MA, a cherished member of her community, passed away after a long courageous battle with a rare case of leukemia on November 30, 2024, with her loving family by her side. Born on September 13, 1949, in Lac Megantic, Quebec, Canada, she moved to the United States on November 30, 1961, at age 12. She was the second of 8 children, the daughter of Lorenzo I. and Aurore L. Vachon. Micheline graduated from St. Bernards High School in 1968. She then married the love of her life David D. DeConinck in 1969. She started her career at Foster Grant as an Assembly Technician. In 1976 she took a leap of faith and ventured in starting up a family business called “Fox Wise Furniture” in Fitchburg with her husband David. On May 4 1992, she proudly became a naturalized citizen of the U.S.
Micheline was preceded in death by 5 of her siblings and parents. She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, David D. DeConinck; son, Karl D. Deconinck, his wife Mary and their children Gianna and Bella of Ashby, MA; daughter Sonya H. Tolson, Dana P. LaFleur (partner) Michael E. Tolson (former spouse) and their children Kaiden and Kolton of Westminster MA; her brother Dr. Francois Vachon, his wife Dana and their 3 children of Guilderland NY; her sister, Helene Vachon and Kim Thomas (partner) of Knoxville TN.
Throughout her life, Micheline was known for her unwavering dedication to her family and friends. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was a beacon of love and support, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.
In addition, Micheline was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed visiting the ocean, cooking large family meals, singing wherever she went, music in all capacities, dancing wherever her heart led her to move and spending precious time with loved ones. Her family was the center of her world, and she took immense pride in their achievements and happiness. Her nurturing spirit and wise counsel will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Micheline’s loving family will continue to honor her memory by living according to the values she held dear. Her legacy of compassion, generosity, and strength will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 11 am in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 84 Salem St., Fitchburg. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024 from 5-7 PM at the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS ) https://www.lls.org/ in her memory. Micheline E. DeConinck will be remembered fondly and missed dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
