Michael T. Lally Jr., age 60, and a resident of Lunenburg, MA, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2023, with his wife at his side.
Michael wanted all of his loved ones to know “I know that I am loved and I love my family”.
Michael was born on May 13, 1962, and was adopted June 12, 1963 by Michael Thomas Lally Sr. and Katherine F. Lally (Marino) in Boston, MA. He grew up in Waltham in the neighborhood penned as “The Sandlot Kids of Cedarwood” with cherished friends that lasted his lifetime.
Mike was best known as a “MacGyver. “Papa” could fix anything. His early years were spent working construction for Crowley Corporation, then using his talents for the City of Fitchburg at the School Department in maintenance and the Fitchburg Municipal Airport as a Lineperson for a total of 22 years.
Anyone who knew Mike knew that he was passionate about music and motorcycles. He looked forward to riding with his friends to Laconia, or sometimes just wherever it led. It was always extra special when it included a stop for ice cream. In Fitchburg you might have seen him running blocks when hearing the ice cream truck. He’d say it was for his grandchildren!
Mike felt blessed to recently discover and make contact with his relatives in California through Ancestry DNA.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Silvar-Lally (Kunelius) of Lunenburg, Son, Kevin C. Lally of Leominster, and his children, Christine A. Silvar Gikis and Josh A. Gikis of Westminster, and Stephen A Silvar, Jr. and Lisa M. Silvar (DeLibertis) of Fitchburg. He is survived by parents, Michael T. Lally Sr. and Katherine F. Lally, (Marino) of Leominster, his sister, Andrea Belcastro (Lally) and Thomas Belcastro of Leominster and a brother, Peter Lally of Brockton, Grandchildren, Kaiden Lally, Stephen A. Silvar, III, Theodore A. Silvar, James Z. Silvar, Margaret M. Silvar, of Fitchburg, and Josephine A. Gikis and Walden A. Gikis (arrival planned July 2023) from Westminster. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Betty Storms (Clark) of Lunenburg, many sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and Kathrine Wiitala Lally, his 1st wife and of course “Oreo” his beloved comfort dog.
