The funeral will be held in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Thursday, September 22 at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Saint Cecilia’s Cemetery in Leominster. Calling hours will be held prior to the service on Thursday, from 9-11am.
Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the American Heart Association or American Society of Hematology.
Michael Lewis Kearns of Fitchburg passed away unexpectedly Saturday September 10, 2016 in his home after battling heart and blood related diseases.
Michael was a 1977 graduate of Fitchburg High School and worked as a three-color pressman for many years, most notably for the former Eusey Press in Leominster before retiring due to health issues.
In his younger years Michael played baseball and spent a great amount of time with his uncle “Neil” Kearns, brother and cousins skiing, hiking and camping the White Mountains.
Mike enjoyed working on his El Camino, “puttering” around the house and yard as well as history. Michael could most often be found looking for and adding to his collections of nostalgia and “lawn Art”.
Michael also loved his family and enjoyed family gatherings.
Michael was a kind, trusting, unassuming, honest, gentle, caring and generous man. He will be most remembered for his quick wit, unique sense of humor and endearing smile.
Michael leaves his brother and sister in law Philip J. Kearns Jr. and Sharon of Westminster, sister and brother in law Kelly Kearns Aveni and Jeffrey of Westminster, nephews Brendan and Matthew Kearns, Jeffrey “Jay” Aveni and niece Kristin Aveni. Michael also leaves his long time friend Elisabeth “Beth” Foster of Lancaster.
In addition, Michael also leaves many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends as well as his two cats Willie and Smokey.
Michael was predeceased by his parents Philip J. Kearns Sr. mother, Dorothy V. (Gosler) Kearns and brother Kevin R. Kouns.
