Calling hours will be held in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Sunday, November 25 from 4-6pm. A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 26, in Saint Leo’s Cemetery, 360 Lancaster St., Leominster at 11:00am.

 



OBITUARY

Leominster – Michael L. DeCarolis, 69, of Leominster, passed away in his home on November 13, 2018.

He was born in Leominster on December 31, 1948, a son of the late Vincent and Rita (Remy) DeCarolis. Michael, affectionately nicknamed “Dō”, graduated from Leominster High School, class of 1969.

He was drafted into the US Army, where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, until his honorable discharge. Michael, always a hard worker, spent his career in construction, where he built several homes. He also worked for the Rockport Company for several years.

Michael was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching both college level and professional league games, especially the Boston Red Sox and Patriots. He enjoyed playing softball with the Rockwell’s and was a member of the Foggia Social Club in Leominster where he was a world series Bocce player for the infamous Chasbo’s Team.

He will be fondly remembered as a sociable man who made everyone feel like a friend. He loved brightening everyone’s day with his wonderful sense of humor. Michael loved his family greatly and will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his children, Sheena DeCarolis of Leominster, Nicholas DeCarolis of Lunenburg, Vincent DeCarolis of Leominster, his step-son, Mark Pochesci of Maynard; three grandchildren, Giovanni and Egidio DeCarolis and Leo DeCarolis; siblings, Berardino DeCarolis of Leominster, Richard DeCarolis and wife Christina of Leominster, and Joseph DeCarolis and wife Cheryl of Lunenburg; three nephews, Logan, Kyle, and Anthony DeCarolis; former wife Sharon (Szewczyk) DeCarolis.

Michael was predeceased by his brother Vincent DeCarolis.
