Calling hours will be at Brandon Funeral Home 305 Wanoosnoc Rd. Fitchburg, MA, on Thursday, May 26, from 4-6 p.m. A military funeral service will be held at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon, MA, on Friday, May 27, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be offered to Fitchburg Firefighters Relief Association, 33 North St. Fitchburg, MA 01420.
Michael J. Kane, 69, of Fitchburg, passed away on May 15, 2022 in Leominster Hospital.
Born in Leominster MA, August 15, 1952, Michael was the son of the late George B. Kane Jr. and Constance Kane of Fitchburg, MA.
Michael proudly served his country in the US Air Force for a decade as Staff Sergeant in fire protection. He completed tours in the Philippine Islands and Korea continuing his service career for 20 years at Fort Devens as the Range Safety Officer.
Fondly known as “Pops” and “Mikey,” Michael was a kind soul and was helpful and generous to others. He also enjoyed fishing the Quabbin Reservoir with his brother, Daniel and father, George. He cared deeply about his family and leaves behind his loving wife Cathy Kane of 36 years, his daughter Jennifer Jones of Birmingham AL, her husband Daniel and his grandson Christian Jones, his two sons Kwame Kane and Joshua Kane of Fitchburg, his two sisters Patty Kane of Leominster and Lisa Kane of Vero Beach FL, his nieces Kelly Murphy, Heidi Kane, and Ericka Kane and a great nephew Brandon Acevedo.
Michael’s younger brother, Daniel Kane of Antrim, NH, predeceased him in September of 2021.
