Calling hours will be held in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Friday, November 6, from 4-8 PM.

The funeral will be held from the Brandon Funeral Home, with a Mass in Saint Bernard’s Parish at Saint Camillus Church, 333 Mechanic St., Fitchburg on Saturday, November 7 at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Saint Bernard’s Cemetery.

OBITUARY

Fitchburg – Mary Jane (Backus) Arena Conlin, 71, of Fitchburg, died Tuesday, November 3, in Leominster Hospital.

Mary Jane was born in Watertown, New York, on August 7, 1944, a daughter of the late Stanley and Leona (Roshia) Backus Sr. She graduated from Solvay High School in UpState, NY. Mary Jane loved to shoot darts, bowl, dance, and tend her flower gardens. She enjoyed camping at her summer home on Lake Ontario in New York. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She leaves her husband William “Bill” Conlin of Fitchburg; children, Wade Kline, Jr. and his wife Ruth of Oneida, NY, Jim Kline and his wife Lisa of Liverpool, NY, Mary Jo Arena of Westford, MA; grandchildren, Brandon Sachok, Sean Vazquez, Wade Kline III, Cory Vazquez, Rachael Kline, Cyle Arena, Morgan Kline, Alexis Kline, Michael Arena, Brianna Arena; stepchildren, Richard Conlin of Fitchburg, MA, Kelly O’Neil of FL, Michael Conlin and wife Amanda of NH, Erin Ford and husband Ricky of Fitchburg; Kim Johnson and husband Mark of Gardner, MA and Danny Manninen and his wife Amanda of Fitchburg; step grandchildren, Michael, Billy O’Neil and Nick Eaddy, Joshua Conlin, Elizabeth, Abigail and Amelia Conlin, Jasmine and Jackson Manninen, Sharon Testa and Ann Johnson; great grandchildren, Camden Vazquez, Mason and Marcus Testa; siblings, Stanley Backus Jr. and wife Fran of NY, Roy Backus and wife Lori of FL, Brenda Dottolo of NY; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mary Jane was predeceased by her son Michael Arena in 2014, and her siblings, Edith Payne and Robert Backus.
