Mary Evelyn Tremblay, 77, of Fitchburg, passed away on January 25, in Health Alliance Leominster Hospital.

Mary was born in Fitchburg on May 9, 1937, a daughter of the late Napolean and Josephine (Hamel) Tremblay. She graduated from Saint Bernard’s Catholic High School, and shortly after began working for the Safety Fund Bank. For many years, she was employed at Safety Fund and also Merchant Bank, where she retired as Assistant Vice President. Catholic charities were her passion, and for many years she worked in home health care, where she was active in field work, training, and managerial positions.

Mary was very giving of herself and her time. She could often be found feeding those in need and providing rides to neighbors. Mary was very active at the Joseph House; it was more than just her residence, it was her home where she made many close friends. Mary was also a Eucharistic Minister for Saint Joseph’s Parish in Fitchburg, where she was a long time member. In her spare time she would enjoy crocheting, knitting, reading, and swimming.

As the true matriarch of the family, Mary was the glue. She always kept everyone together with her genuine love of family and selflessness.

She leaves her siblings, Maurice Tremblay and his wife Patricia of Fitchburg, Gerald Tremblay and his wife Marie of Shell City, MO, Robert Tremblay and his wife Mary of Palatine, IL, Roland Tremblay and his wife Edie of Cyprus, CA, Arthur Tremblay of Fitchburg, Joyce Rollins of Derry, NH; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother John Tremblay of Townsend, and her sister Lillian Lacombe of Winchendon.
