Marita Salem Forrest

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 11, in Green Cemetery in Carlisle at 12 noon. Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg is directing arrangements.



Obituary Ashburnham – Marita F. (Forrest) Salem, 79, of Ashburnham, formerly of Carlisle, passed away October 1, 2016 in her home surrounded by her family. Marita was born on November 6, 1936, a daughter of the late Francis and Mary Forrest. After earning her Master’s degree, she taught elementary school in Cambridge for many years. Along with her husband, Marita loved to travel, some of their trips included Guam, China, Japan, and Ireland. She also enjoyed her weekend trips to the beach with her family. Marita was a skilled baker and cook, who always enjoyed family meals. In her spare time she enjoyed reading. She leaves her son, Michael Salem and his wife Cheryl of Ashburnham; grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Kayla, William, Peyton, and Cameron. Marita was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, William Salem in May. She was also predeceased by her two brothers, Francis and Jack Forrest.
