OBITUARY
Fitchburg – Marilyn L. (Aldrich) Parkhurst, 84, of Fitchburg passed away Tuesday, April 5, in the Highlands.
Marilyn was born in Fitchburg on August 15, 1931, a daughter of the late William W. and Mary (McCafferty) Aldrich. She graduated from Fitchburg High School and worked at Simonds Saw and Steel for many years along with her husband until her retirement. Marilyn also worked for King’s Department store.
Marilyn was a loving and devoted wife and mother, who loved nothing more than spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and skilled baker. Marilyn found great joy in watching and feeding the birds in her yard. She had a perpetual green thumb, and could often be found tending her immaculate gardens. Along with her husband Kenneth, Marilyn enjoyed retirement years on Lake Ontario. Together they would visit with friends and enjoy their summers fishing.
She leaves her children, Kenneth Parkhurst of Maine, Sandra Laaksonen of Fitchburg, C. Dana Parkhurst and wife Sandra of Ashby, and Jon Parkhurst and wife Katrina of Townsend; grandchildren, Rozalyn Parkhurst, Ben Parkhurst, Tim Laaksonen, Joshua Harvey, Carey Parkhurst, and Alexzander Parkhurst; great grandchildren, Timothy and Seth Laaksonen; brother William Aldrich and wife Theresa of Westminster, and their son Billy.
Marilyn was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Kenneth Parkhurst; grandson Matti Laaksonen, and her niece Patty St. Cyr.
The Parkhurst family would like to thank Marilyn’s many friends for bringing much joy into her life.
