The funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 7, at St. Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic Street, in Leominster. Burial will follow in Saint Cecilia’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Cecilia’s Restoration Fund, 170 Mechanic Street, Leominster, MA 01453 or Rose Monahan Hospice Home, 10 Judith Road, Worcester, MA 01602.
Marie Janice (Goguen) Zephir 87, of Leominster passed away peacefully on Friday, January 28, 2022, after a short illness.
Janice was the daughter of the late J. Henri and Corinne (Lamoureux) Goguen and was born in Leominster on April 17, 1934.
She grew up on French Hill and had many fond memories of her childhood years with family and friends. Janice graduated from St. Bernard’s High School in 1952, attended Becker Junior College and has been a resident of Leominster most of her life.
In 1951 Janice met her future husband, Andrew F. Zephir, from Catonsville, Maryland. They would eventually be married at St. Cecilia’s Church in Leominster on February 7, 1953.
Together they would raise their four children. Janice’s life was centered around her family. She supported her husband in his career and created a loving and nurturing home for their family. In later years she was blessed with six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Janice had a natural eye for fashion that was apparent from the time she was young. She enjoyed listening to music, watching old movies, and was known to quiz her family members on movie trivia.
Through the years summers were spent in Edgartown and Osterville with her growing family.
Janice was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed.
Her husband, Andrew F. Zephir, passed away in 2010. She is survived by her son, Andrew F. Zephir, Jr. and his wife Karen of Rindge, NH; three daughters, Karen Gelsomini and her husband Larry of Osterville, Bonnie Williams of Butler, TN, and Joan Romano and her husband Doug of Leominster. She leaves six grandchildren, Anthony Gelsomini, Kimberly Delaney, Tina Williams Coney, Tyler Williams, Dominick Romano, Katarina Romano, three great-grandsons, her cousin Robert O. Doucette and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Marcus Fortier, and son-in-law David Williams.
