Maria Costa, of Fitchburg, passed away peacefully on March 3rd at Health Alliance Hospital after a well-foughtbattle with a myriad of illnesses. Maria was born on June 2, 1952 in the small town of Pietraperzia Italy, and moved to the United States with her family in 1966.
Maria was always a strong willed and independent woman. Coming to America at 14 years old, she worked very hard to quickly learn the English language and provide her family with a successful transition to their new Country.
Maria worked many years for Foster Grant Corporation in Leominster. Throughout her life she was a devout Catholicand was immensely proud of her Italian heritage. She devoted much of her life to caring for her loving parents, Filippo & Lena. She enjoyed music, dancing, cooking, especially pasta dishes, and spending time with friends and family.
Maria is predeceased by her parents and is survived by her brother, Giuseppe (Joe) Costa and his wife Athena Costa; her nephew and nieces, Adam, Erica, and Alexa Costa. She also leaves her long-time, loving and caring companion Casey Migliozzi, with whom she shared many happy times and fond memories.
