Margarita Acevedo Sanchez

FITCHBURG – Margarita Acevedo Sanchez, 83, of Fitchburg died on Friday, April 14, 2023 in The Highlands, Fitchburg.

She was born on October 26, 1939 in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico the daughter of Santiago Acevedo and Maria Sanchez Vargas.  Margarita graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Education at Andrews University in Michigan.  She graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education with a concentration in every subject from the Antillian College in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.

She was a bookkeeper at a bank in Manhattan, New York; she was one of the founders at the 7^th Day Adventist School in Humacao, Puerto Rico; she was Principal of the 7^th Day Adventist School in Naguabo, Puerto Rico; she was a teacher most of her life in different Public Schools around the island of Puerto Rico and other 7^th Day Adventist Schools.  She was a member of the Manhattan 7^th Day Adventist Church Choir and Director of the 7^th Day Adventist Church Choir in Humacao 1, Puerto Rico.  She enjoyed listening to music, singing and baking.

She leaves two daughters, her oldest daughter, Sheila Bonilla Acevedo and her husband Miguel Sanchez of Fitchburg; her youngest daughter, Yadiris Bonilla Acevedo of Clinton, MA; one brother, Domingo Acevedo Sanchez of Maryland; one sister, Ramonita Martinez of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two grandchildren, Alanis Bonilla of Fitchburg, Camila Sanabria of Clinton, MA; nephew and nieces, Esther Quintana and Raguel Martinez of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Irenio Martinez of CT, Norna Street of Maryland, Jonathan Acevedo of FL, David Acevedo of FL, Edward Antonetti of Humacao, Puerto Rico.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 6 pm in the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg.  Burial will be private at a later date.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 4 – 6 pm in the funeral home.
