Marcella D. McManus, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children, on March 25, 2024. She was born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts on October 27, 1931, to Joseph and Emma Mineault.
Marcie's life was a testament to her dedication to family. After graduating from St. Bernard's High School in 1949, and the Burbank Hospital School of Nursing in 1952, she married George McManus and began a fulfilling career as a Registered Nurse, providing compassionate care for countless patients. Her dedication extended beyond her professional life into her personal hobbies.
She was especially proud of her beautiful perennial garden. Needlework, baking, and puzzles were activities that brought her joy. She was a dedicated homemaker and wonderful hostess. Nothing was more important than Sunday dinners surrounded by her children and grandchildren and spending summers in York, Maine. Marcie's lifelong dream was to see Paris in the spring which she fulfilled with family. She was also a devoted member of St. Bernard's Parish.
Marcie's legacy is carried on by her children, Melissa McGrath and her husband, Dr. Lynn McGrath, Ellen DiConza and Thomas, George McManus Jr., Michelle Constantino and Paul, and Mark McManus and Elizabeth; fifteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her Brother-in-law, Leo F. McManus,Jr. and many nieces and nephews. . Marcie was predeceased by her beloved husband, George Sr., her parents, Joseph and Emma Mineault, and her sisters, Ann Auger, Peg Lussier, and Claire Flechtner.
Marcie's generosity, and loving heart will be deeply missed but forever remembered. We invite family and friends to share their favorite memories on her memorial page. Your cherished stories will help keep her memory alive for generations to come.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Marcella for a period of visitation on Monday, April 1, 2024 at Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd. Fitchburg, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at St. Bernard Parish, 333 Mechanic St. Fitchburg, MA at 11:00am. Burial will follow mass at St. Bernard Cemetery, 96 Goodrich St. Fitchburg.In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to St. Bernard's High School, 45 Harvard St, Fitchburg, MA 01420.
