The funeral will be held from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg on Friday, February 5, 2016 with a service held in Emanuel Lutheran Church, 1200 John Fitch Highway, Fitchburg at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 4, from 4-7pm in the funeral home.

Fitchburg – Malcolm W. Lillie Sr., 84, of 111 Walton Street in Fitchburg, died peacefully in his home on January 31, 2016 surrounded by family. 

He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years Esther (Thomas) Lillie. He was born in Leominster on January 5, 1932, the son of James W. and Bessie (McCulloch) Lillie.  Bessie died in 1936 just after the birth of his sister Jean (Lillie) McConnell now of Ft. Smith, Arkansas.  He was predeceased by his sister Judith Mae (Lillie) Willoughby who died in 1985 daughter of James’ second wife Priscilla (Dodge) Lillie.  He is survived by his eight children Kathleen Bizzotto of Leominster and Colleen Eskola of Brewster, MA, James, Malcolm Jr, Theodore, Walter, and David of Fitchburg, and George of Charlestown, MA. He has 25 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his granddaughter Nicole Bizzotto.

  Mal graduated from Leominster High School Class of 1949. He was in the Navy from 1949 through 1953 where he achieved the rank of RD2 (radar-man), having proudly served his country in the Korean War. He worked at Newton’s Dairy in Leominster from 1955 until 1963, worked for the Fuller Brush Company, drove bus for Fitchburg and Leominster Street Railway, and did indoor and outdoor painting. He was a member of the Fitchburg Fire Department from 1967-1994 working his way up the ranks and retiring as the Chief in 1994.  He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and an active member of the Montachusett Council of Churches.
