Madeleine M. Fallon, 93, of Lunenburg and Vero Beach, Florida passed away on January 12, 2024 in Vero Beach.
She was born on February 16, 1930, in Leominster to Giovanni (John) and Giovanna (Jenny Fantozzi) DeCarolis. Madeleine graduated from Leominster High School in 1948 and Becker Junior College in 1950.
She married her late husband, Dr. Robert J. Fallon, on June 23, 1951. She worked at General Electric in Fitchburg before she and Bob moved to Montreal, Canada. She worked in the school system there while Bob finished veterinary school. After graduation, they returned, settled in Lunenburg, and together started the Fallon Animal Clinic where Madeleine worked until her retirement.
Madeleine was very involved with helping others. She was an active member of St. Boniface Church, worked as a volunteer for many local charities both in Massachusetts and Florida and also helped out in the Lunenburg school system. She was an avid reader, enjoyed raking the beach at Hickory Hills Lake and always had a box of assorted cookies and snacks for her visiting family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Michael J. Fallon and his wife Susan of Lunenburg and Vero Beach, Florida, Anne M. Leader and her husband Leonard of Leominster and Carolyn M. McLaughlin and her husband Jerry Brannen of Sebastian, Florida. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Robert (Colleen) Leader, Daniel Leader, James Leader, Katelyn McLaughlin (Bradley Dunstan), Allison McLaughlin, Dr. Kendall Fallon, her great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Hayley and Benjamin Leader and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Madeleine was predeceased by her brothers, Nino DeCarolis and Frank DeCarolis, and her sisters, Pasqualina McGreevy, Eleanor Pelletier, Ida Simenas and Rose Healey.
A Funeral Mass in Madeleine’s honor will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Saint Boniface Church, 817 Massachusetts Avenue, Lunenburg. Burial will follow at Saint Leo Cemetery, 360 Lancaster Street, Leominster. All are invited to a luncheon after the burial.
