OBITUARY
Fitchburg – Louis (Louie) Giunta, 81, of Fitchburg, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family in the early morning hours on January 23, 2018.
Louis was born in Fitchburg on March 1, 1936, a son of the late Salvatore and Mary (Anzalone) Giunta, and he resided in Fitchburg his entire life. He spent his career working as a machinist at General Electric in Fitchburg. After his retirement, he worked for Adessa, Mart, Value Liquors, and The Vineyard in Ayer.
Louie was a faithful parishioner of Saint Anthony di Padua Church in Fitchburg. He served in the United States Army from 1955-1957 with an honorable discharge, and he was awarded the Medal of Good Conduct. He was a loving husband, a doting father, and a fiercely proud papa. Family was the most important aspect of his life. Louie enjoyed spending summers with his family in Maine. He loved sitting by the ocean, playing cards with his grandchildren, eating lobster, telling stories, and attending “local meetings” with his family. These brought some of the most memorable moments that his children and grandchildren will always remember and cherish. He was a steadfast New England Sports fan, especially the Red Sox and the Patriots.
He is survived by his two daughters, Elizabeth Giunta Gendron and her husband Jeffrey P. Gendron of Fitchburg and Jane Giunta Adams and her husband Dr. Todd Adams of Cape Neddick, ME. He was the beloved ‘Papa’ to his grandchildren, John Louis Gendron and Jeffrey Giunta Gendron of Fitchburg and Meredith Anne Adams and Elizabeth Mary Adams of Cape Neddick, ME. In addition, he is survived by his brother Joseph Giunta of Bedford, formerly of Leominster, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Louis was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Judith A. (Morris) Giunta in 2016; two brothers, Samuel and Anthony Giunta, and his sister, Sophie (Giunta) Ingemie.
The family would like to extend a most sincere and heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of the Health Alliance Home Health and Hospice for their exceptional care and kindness.
