FITCHBURG – Lillian Robertson, 98, of Fitchburg passed away peacefully on February 2, 2023 in UMASS Memorial Health Alliance Hospital, Leominster Campus. She was surrounded by family during her final days.
She was born in Westminster on June 15, 1924, the daughter of the late James Taylor of Stapleton, NY and Eva (Pinard) Taylor of Manchester, NH. She graduated from Fitchburg High School with the Class of 1943 and was the last surviving member of “Club,” a group of high school friends that gathered weekly for over 60 years to play cards, knit, crochet or just plain talk. She also worked at General Electric Co. for many years.
Lillian was predeceased by her beloved husband of 47 years, David D. Robertson, their son Gary J. Robertson, a grandson Mark A. Robertson, and by four sisters, Eva Joseph, Grace Belliveau, Dorothy Schafish, and Elizabeth Guazzo.
She leaves two daughters, Donna L. Kosakowski of Fitchburg, Margaret M. Patterson of Leominster; four sons, Donald D. Robertson and his wife Dianne of Sierra Vista, AZ, John W. Robertson and his wife Jean of Merrimack, NH, David D. Robertson, Jr. and his wife Tammy of Clarksville, TN, and Kevin T. Robertson and his wife Emily of Ashburnham. She also leaves eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Lillian overcame many challenges in her long life and lead a life filled with travel, spontaneity and love. Her family and friends, who span many generations and much of the country, will remember her playing cards and fun times with the Dingbats, (her four sisters) who entertained at family reunions. She enjoyed a good time and those she loved will miss her quick-witted humor, her dancing and her bubbly giggle.
Thank you to her friends who looked over her in her Lunenburg house and apartment, the staff and caregivers at her apartment in Fitchburg, and the amazing hospital staff.
Her funeral service will be held Friday, February 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road in Fitchburg. Burial will follow at St. Bernards Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held at the funeral home from Friday, February 10, 2023, from 9 – 11 a.m. prior to the funeral service.
