Burial will be held at the MA Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallan St., Winchendon on Friday, July 22, at 2:00pm.
Fitchburg – On Thursday, July 7, 2022, Leonard “Butch” Craigen was called home at the age of 82. The world has lost an amazing son, brother, uncle, husband, father, and grandfather.
Butch was born on October 2, 1939 in Fitchburg, MA to Lucy (McGrath) and Michael Craigen. He was a skilled basketball player and at the age of 17 he enlisted in the US Army, becoming a SPC E-4 in the 101st Airborne Division, the Screaming Eagles.
He spent his career working for James River, Decatone, and Pepperell Paper Companies. Butch was a lifetime member of the Saint Joseph Club, enjoyed playing pool, going to the beach, and spending quality time with family and friends.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Elaine (Berube) Craigen; his children, Karen Craigen and Becky Blood and her husband Keith; grandchildren, Zachary Craigen, Tristin St. Jean, Tyler and Teagan Blood; siblings, Patricia and Larry Bouchard, Raymond “Cookie” and Ann Craigen, Mary and John Alatalo, and Jerry Craigen; several nieces and nephews.
Butch was predeceased by his parents, brothers Michael Craigen and his wife Anne, and Richard Craigen.
